Tips & tricks: troubleshooting guide.

Here's a checklist we put together to make sure you enjoy your QUT experience.

  • Is the webcam on?
Make sure your webcam is on, and properly installed. You should be able to see yourself in the camera window. If you can't, right-click and go to "settings." Click the camera tab, then choose the camera. (If your setting defaults to "DV video", try "USB video class video" instead).
  • Have pop-ups been enabled?
Pop-ups must be enabled. On a PC, select to allow the pop-up if prompted. On a Mac®, you can hit command + shift + k.
  • Is there enough light?
You must be in a well-lit area. And remember, broadband will always give you the best experience.
  • Do you have the latest Flash?
If you don't have the latest Flash plug-in, you can download it: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  • Can your webcam see the marker?
The webcam must always be aimed directly at the marker (the black, framed QUT logo). You can experiment with it, turn it, tilt it, change angles, get closer or further away, but the webcam must ALWAYS be able to see the marker.
  • On a laptop?
If you're on a laptop with a built-in webcam, and you're having a hard time centering the QUT marker, try angling your webcam down a bit.
  • Turn up the volume
Sound is a big part of the experience. Make sure the audio is on.
